Review –

For fans of style, you will collect your appetites filled as they are exquisite sets are littered all throughout the film. The violence is built up till the extinguish when it erupts on cover. If you are a fan of OLdbOY, and that’s the reason you are gonnna come by it; my suggestion is, do not seek information from an OLdbOY sequel or anything that resembles OLdbOY, as you will be sorely disappointed… Enter this film with the impression that is a whole fresh film experience and you will like it……But mind you, this is a amazing exertion and a amazing conclusion to the revenge trilogy….

The DVD –

2:35:1 Anamorphic Widescreen

Korean Dolby Digital 5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround tracks

English and Spanish subtitles

Theatrical trailer, and some preview trailers

The rest of the extras are aloof not released…. I will update them when i recieve them..

But it’s been confirmed that the move to gloomy version of Lady Vengeance(which appears in the Korean Special edition) is not available here.

Ps: Please designate that the Korean distributors of the movie have only released a 2 disc special edition and there is a HK single and double disc edition available. If there are anyone mentioning a Korean single disc edition – there is no such thing and they are not correct versions, beware such sellers!!!!

This film is an provocative and poignant depiction of a woman whose life has reached the point of no return. The yarn unfolds in an shimmering map encouraging you to continue to prefer with it. The music faded is haunting and entirely appropriate for each scene adding to the drama.

This movie is not for the faint of heart. It deals with adult themes and criminal activity. It does this in a completely artful device. I saw the film originally during a Korean film festival on television and subsequently bought it as a gift for a family member.

Jack Bauer ( Kiefer Sutherland) is tranquil recovering from the death of his wife and the events that took station in season 1. He no longer works for the CTU, and he is trying to depart on with his life by rebuilding a solid relationship with his daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) . Unfortunately, a terrorist threat has been announced, and over the course of the next 24 hours, a nuclear bomb is going to be detonated in Los Angeles. David Palmer ( Dennis Hayworth) is now president, and is faced with the challenge of containing the threat. The only person Palmer can turn to is obviously Jack Bauer- the man who saved his life. Now Jack must become the man he once was, and procure out who is slow the nuclear bomb before it is too behind…

I was originally very skeptical when it came to season 2 of Fox’s ground-breaking present “24″. Season 1 had astonishing acting, nail-biting suspense, and a totally unique format of airing each episode as an hour over the course of one day. I figured there was no plan that FOX could pull off a second season that even came conclude. However, the explain managed to become even better for season 2. The residence leisurely season 2 really hits home because of the events of 9/11. Another thing that was grand, was the fact that season 2 managed to form off of the previous season when it came to the characters. Even though season 1 was based on a different situation of events, the emotional topple out from that day is carried over into season 2, because of how colossal the acting was. Kiefer Sutherland, Dennis Hayworth, Elisha Cuthbert, Carlos Bernard ( Tony Almeida), Sarah Clarke ( Nina Myers), and Penny Johnson ( Sherry Palmer) are all assist and are all astounding. In fact, it was one of the most well rounded performances from a cast I have ever seen.

The second season was even better than the first season in my thought. However, the note was not the only thing that improved. The DVD itself took a complete 180 when it came to the special features that were offered. The first season DVD dwelling did not really have any special features at all, or even any scene selection. The second time around, FOX made determined to lawful their mistake. First of all, there is actually scene selection. You do not have to manually skip through the whole episode unbiased to fetch a particular scene. The special features are substantial as well. The explain itself fits over six discs. However, a seventh disc was created that contains nothing but extras. There are 44 deleted scenes, three improbable featuretes, and mighty more. If you were a fan of the first season, there is definately no arrangement you can afford to pass this up. A must hold!!

Season Two is the honest test of this show’s mettle. Can 24 hold itself now that the novelty of its groundbreaking real-time conceit has used off?

Buy,Download, Or Stream 24 – Season Two! Click Here

The acknowledge is yes. 24’s writers and producers are intellectual enough to know that it wasn’t so mighty the real-time aspect which connected with people, but the array of insurmountable obstacles and impossible odds with which Jack Bauer is faced episode after episode, as befits a apt suspense thriller.

Season Two’s nuclear-bomb location is powerful more ambitious than Season One. And yes, there comes a point in the middle where the action lapses quite badly, when the threat of detonation diminishes. And the exhibit underutilizes Jack’s character for a agreeable four, five episodes — a mistake. It’s Kiefer Sutherland’s edgy, aggressive portrayal of this dogged, often morally questionable character that anchors the tone of the demonstrate, and the first quarter of the exhibit has far too great Kate Warner (Sarah Wynter) and not enough jack Bauer.

The Kate Warner subplot, while a wonderful one in idea, goes awry in execution for a suited 50 per cent of the exhibit. Sarah Wynter does an adequate job, but every single character in this subplot remains paper-thin up until the midpoint of the season. It’s like the gooey family love-in in Season One without the physical exertion. Since the characters have no weight (Laura Harris as Marie Warner is especially irritating), their fussy interactions also ring hollow, especially ranked alongside Jack’s apocalyptic nuclear threat and even the Kim Bauer kidnapping subplot. Once Kate and Jack meet and she is incorporated into the conspiracy through-line, she becomes a mighty better character and Wynter’s appeal comes through.

Buy,Download, Or Stream 24 – Season Two! Click Here

Sutherland remains the center of everything, befittingly. The loss of Sarah Clarke in the main cast does hurt; Reiko Aylesworth does a elegant job as replacement Michelle Dessler, but she objective doesn’t have Clarke’s entertaining presence. Fans of Season One looking for closure in the Nina Myers subplot can conclude looking — Season Two gives Clarke a astounding opportunity to chew scenery and play an insidious villainess and Clarke is terrific in this role, but don’t examine any attempt to justify unbiased how Nina Myers went from saintly sidekick to vicious double agent. Elisha Cuthbert continues to sign with acting nuances odd among actresses her age; she’s a pro at making consuming choices at emotional moments. Dennis Haysbert is stately and subtly noteworthy as President Palmer, and happily, Penny Johnson Jerald as Sherry Palmer is given a more human dimension in the scripts, rather than the blindly destructive saboteur of Season One, and Jerald rises to the occasion. The best performance of the season, however, belongs to Xander Berkeley. Finally this stunning actor is given a character arc ample of his abilities, and Berkeley’s portrayal of George Mason’s metamorphosis is emotionally devastating, while retaining the character’s defining irreverence and scuzziness. I wonder why he was locked out of the Emmys?

Suffice to say that I stayed up for another 20 hours straight watching this thing. This present has a hypnotic quality not found in any other, and you can bet I’ll be first in line for Season Three — especially since Season Two ends on the mother of all cliffhangers. I fair hope the writers can maintain this up.

I can’t wait for seasons 5 and 6 to approach out within the next year or so. It’s true frosty now!

The Recent Prince of Bel-Air – The Complete Fourth Season

The fourth season of “The Novel Prince of Bel-Air” isn’t the best season but it level-headed had a lot of amusing episodes. The first two episodes are probably the funniest, especially the second one where Hilary’s fiancé Trevor hurts himself bungee-jumping on TV. Philip then says, “Let’s impartial hope Trevor’s okay.” Slice to the next scene, everyone’s in gloomy and Philip says, “Well, it was a splendid service.”

The dilemma with this season was the unique Vivian. Daphne Maxwell-Reid is a excellent actress but it’s hard to top Janet Hubert-Whitten’s version. Janet made Vivian feisty and a take-no-mess type while Daphne’s sterile version made it hard to witness (the writers must have known that too, maybe that’s why Daphne wasn’t in that many episodes) . The great news with that is that the focus shifts from Vivian and onto the other characters, which in turn makes them stronger (inspect Will in “Papa’s Got a Designate Unique Excuse” – my popular episode) .

The predicament with the DVD residence is that it looks rushed. Even the menu appears half-hearted compared to previous “Novel Prince” sets. Also, there are no special features at all – but I guess that’s not a tall loss because all I usually scrutinize are the episodes and the special features in previous sets weren’t all that special, as someone mentioned earlier.

This season shows that the demonstrate wasn’t on its death bed honest yet. That would happen during the last season. -EJR

Whooo..where to initiate? I’ve been a fan of these books for about 20 years or so. Needless to say that I was psyched to hear of an tantalizing project based on the books. Unfortunately, this falls prey to the typical “book/video game to movie” standard.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dragonlance – Dragons Of The Autumn Twilight! Click Here

The animation is about on par with slack 80s/early 90s Marvel Saturday morning stuff and at times, the modern D&D cartoon. It does not work well for the legend being told, IMO.

The movie is PG-13, likely due to some of the violence/blood which is not always at the same level for every fight scene. One fight they explain people that were impaled on stakes, people being cooked by fire breathing dragons and blood when creatures are killed. Another fight there’s no blood and the creatures are kind of objective conked around.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Dragonlance – Dragons Of The Autumn Twilight! Click Here

Another thing is the too many seconds spent on Tika’s bouncy lady lumps. I net that Caremon is checking her out but it objective doesn’t work, it feels sinful. Maybe I’m too stuck relating the animation to the cartoons of my youth, where this would be draw out of station.

And then there are the dragons and draconians which are all done in CGI. I don’t know if you’ve ever seen CGI characters and traditionally engrossing characters intergrated in the same scene successfully, but here they aren’t. It looks like a dreadful special achieve from a live action movie. The CGI is of the kind you’d derive in a Hot Wheels commercial.

The converse acting is not too unpleasant. At first I didn’t like Keifer Sutherland as Raistlin, but it grew on me as it went on. He really gets the good attitude down.

For ‘extras’ you net some character designs and a preliminary animation test. Oh, and some trailers!

If you’re familiar with the account and you like it, I’d say rent it…and even then procure it from Redbox for $1. If you don’t know the narrative, who knows, maybe you’ll like it because you won’t be hoping for a lot, but the sage may lose you because it’s not a generic D&D world and you’ll be missing out on a lot of the background…unbiased hold the book!

This series was the first, and one of the only, where I have actually shed tears while reading. I care for these stories and that is the reason I may seem to be coming down hard on the movie. It’s because I want the movie to be impartial as worthy as the books so that anyone not familiar with the books will derive the same joy I did from reading them.

I’m hoping that the next 2 (or more) installments will improve as they go.

Based on the mighty acclaimed recent, Dragons of Autumn Twilight by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman, the original Dragonlance movie of the same name is both a disappointment and a fancy. The unusual Dragons of Autumn Twilight was an instant best seller starting off the Dragonlance series based in the fantastical realm of Krynn with all its dragons, wizards, and light handed kender. As the years have passed, the series has grown and expanded creating a uniquely complex and somewhat logical realm with a solid character detestable and a penchant for creativity. Along the method, Dragonlance has gained a tremendous audience of fans varying in ages from young to former. So, of course, it has long been expected that a movie encompassing the delightfully destructive realm of Krynn would be forthcoming. Twenty years later we gain a straight to DVD grievous budget production that, despite the distinct lack of trouble, unruffled held a distinct magical something that encapsulated the viewers’ desperate dreams of dragons.

———————————————-

The sage sticks surprisingly cessation to the modern it was based upon, including all the major events and not deviating from the fresh storyline even slightly. It begins with rumors of a corrupt army, ruled by the gross goddess Takhisis, amassing in the north, ready to demolish the 300 years of peace that has reigned over Krynn since the Cataclysm. This army has successfully awakened an faded evil: dragons. Long view to be creatures of story, they have returned to Krynn and in the wake of their fiery breath, millions of innocent citizens are dying. But, the gods of valid have not forsaken Krynn and in the wake of sinful, they send a crystal staff that holds the key to salvation. As the battle between trustworthy and snide rages onward, a cast of unwary heroes joins to fight the darkness of dragons. Among these heroes are Tanis, a dispirited half elf who finds himself not only confused by the battle raging around him, but by the battle inside his heart, a heart wrenching emotional battle between two women that he loves and the inevitable choice he must get that will change everything. Also, not to be missed are the two brothers Majere, Raistlin, a sardonic wizard in training whose petite powers belie his heart of darkness and Caramon, his profitable natured brother. Along for the wander are two mysterious Plainsmen, Riverwind and his paramour Goldmoon, who possesses the staff gifted to her from the Gods. And, not to be forgotten, the grumpy but lovable stale dwarf Flint and his kender sidekick whose superior natured curiosity often slides into thievery. And, of course, not to be overlooked is Fizban, the doddery weak wizard who fair never can engage the moral incantation for that fireball spell. None of the beloved cast of characters, both generous and ghastly, from the unique is left out and the viewer is elated to finally meet their favorites in “person.”

Unfortunately, the movie follows the new so closely that it ends with a cliff hanger, as does the original leaving the viewer somewhat unsatisfied since it is unlikely that a sequel will ever be made. The new was originally followed by two sequels, Dragons of Winter Night and Dragons of Spring Dawning which concluded the drama and jubilant the reader. Since the movie did not bear the events that transpired in the novels mentioned above, there is no right conclusion but rather an ominous foreshadowing for the future well being of Krynn.

The characters, while represented by shoddy animation, were nevertheless presented appropriately, perfectly mirroring the characters in the fresh. The voices chosen for each character were perfect, enabling the viewer to immerse themselves into the characters’ personas even deeper. The main actors that lent their bellow acting to the film are the ever talented Kiefer Sutherland, Lucy Lawless, and Michael Rosenbaum. In this presentation lies the beauty and the satisfaction of the movie. The major events that apprehensive and ecstatic the reader were presented magnificently, reminding the viewer vividly of the tickled hours spent immersed in the recent. Likewise, the characters we have reach to care for are brought to a gleaming life, drawing the viewer into the world of Krynn once again. Because of this seemingly incidental evocation of a realm we have near to savor, the movie succeeds with the viewer despite its flaws.

But, what of the cons? Firstly, I must complain loud and long about the presentation of this film. We, the avid fans, have waited years for this moment when Dragonlance finally hit the spacious cloak. So, image the instant irritation when I accidentally discovered this film, floating around aimlessly on Amazon. There was no press, no trailers, no disaster. The movie was released without any pomp, going straight to DVD and into the realms of instant anonymity. Once I watched the film, I instantly realized why. Obviously, this film had a budget of approximately fifteen dollars; while the remark over actors who were hired were extremely talented, the animation was pure rubbish. I was not terribly gratified that the creators of the film determine animation. Why not grasp Dragonlance to the tremendous mask, absorb it with valid actors and improbable effects such as the considerable acclaimed Eragon? Why must the film be relegated to the realms of animation? Animation is intended to amuse children, not to exhibit a serious drama. That prejudice aside, the animation itself was the poorest quality that I have ever seen. It was stiff, jerky, and contained minimal details. It appeared more like a uninteresting enchanting comical strip, with entire frames missing causing the film to be a jerky mess that hesitantly and unexpectedly jumped from frame to frame and scene to scene. Very, very terrible Dragonlance. Must do better.

And what of the uninitiated viewer who has no pervious knowledge of the Dragonlance saga? If you perceive yourself to be one of these individuals, then skip this film. The movie was obviously intended to please the adamant fan’s need to bag more overpriced Dragonlance memorabilia. For those who are unbiased looking for a fun fantasy adventure, the Dragonlance movie will exhibit more of a slapdash difficulty that follows a place pattern established by a original that relied heavily on sequels. The ending will show abrupt to those who are not familiar with the novels ending. If you are searching for a fun, but serious fantasy film then search for elsewhere.

The special features included on the DVD are, like the entire production, sparse. They include the novel test animation and the initial character beget and nothing else. Once again, the creators opted for the inexpensive instead of the impressive.

To Search For or not to Peer?

With all its myriad flaws, the Dragonlance movie peaceful proves an delightful sojourn into the amazing realm of Krynn that will remind adamant Dragonlance fans of the long hours spent curved over the latest modern, dreaming of the characters and trying to out guess the authors’ serpentine position. For this reason, it is definitely worth watching for the already established Dragonlance fan. However, a viewer with no prior knowledge of this realm will be disappointed and instantly disinterested. Recommended to Dragonlance fans only.

I was hoping this would be more than simply seasons 1-3 packed together but I was wrong. This box spot is the same as buying seasons 1, 2, and 3 separately except it comes with unusual case pictures and a children’s wash-off tattoo. There are a few novel special features but they kept the carve scenes out of this version. I really had hoped this would occupy the scenes crop from the fresh dvds.

If you don’t already have seasons 1-3 on disk than this is a splendid deal but if you do this is not worth it. All three seasons are subtitled so if you bought an older version like I did before they subtitled them this is a bit better.

La tiene ‘los mejores besos’, unas videos de rbd, pleitos, ‘las mejored escenas de amor’, trayecotiras, y una galeria. Si no tiene temporadas 1-3 entonces debes comprar eso porque no es un robo.

even a person who had never seen it or known what this dvd was about would have been lost… because it skip from here to antoher chapter.

its so unfair to carve the pieces out. lets say the 1st season is about 20 hrs… lets unbiased say it mostlikely has only 13 hrs on it of the 1st season. i dont thought to search for it until i bag the steady telenovela that my money is worth of…

I was at the Gates in Recent York, and based on that vast experience I viewed a few of these DVD’s as rentals.

Buy,Download, Or Stream 5 Films About Christo and Jeanne-Claude – A Maysles Films Production! Click Here

I have only seen the Valley Curtain and Running Fence films, but based on that I am ordering the dwelling to withhold. The films themselves of course are a microscopic dated and not perfect transfers by any means, as they are older films made with older equipment and not a lot of misfortune was made to improve the video quality over the current material. But the unique film work itself is very well done (even in sometime very intelligent conditions) and the director did a tremendous job capturing the essence of what it is to build up these projects that operate on such a huge scale. The Running Fence one was especially qualified in this regard as it covered a number of public hearings and talks with the ranchers eager well before any construction showing people arguing against the projects.

However that is not the best fragment of these films. The best fragment is the commentary tracks which seem to have all been done in 2004 (sometime fair before the Gates opened), and include Jeanne-Claude, Christo, and the film maker himself. All of them are very enchanting and have a lot to say throughout the film, including a lot of information you’ll not collect from the films alone. As these were all stunning fresh commentaries it also allows for remarkable more enthralling perspective in commentary as they can compare some aspects of these older works to more unusual ones.

For anyone fervent in the works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, this is a must-watch space of films and will give you mountainous insights into their conception process.

loved the series …. loads of information and very well presented. Not the greatest cinematography but the subject matter overcomes the sometimes abominable quality of transfer.

Not only is there an Aged Murky HOUSE, there’s also a sunless and stormy night outside said house, a heavy rain that causes mud slides and has turned the roads into quagmires. It’s so awful that travelers Roger Penderel (Melvyn Douglas) and Philip and Margaret Waverton (Raymond Massey and Gloria Stuart) swallow their fears (how would YOU like it if your knock at the door of a scary customary house was answered by Boris Karloff? ) and gawk refuge there. They are followed soon enough by portly and high-spirited Sir William Porterhouse (Charles Laughton) and fiery young Gladys DuCane (Lilian Bond) . Nobody in their legal mind would reflect spending a night in the spooky mature spot unless forced by the sharpest contingency. Nobody in their honest mind, we soon learn, inhabits the house, either. It’s the region of the Femm family, passe siblings Horace and Rebecca (Ernest Thesiger and Eva Moore) and a brace of unseen, but not unheard, relatives locked in upper chronicle rooms. Boris Karloff plays Morgan, a butler or sib (never explained either procedure), who’s scarier than all earn out.

THE Musty Dim HOUSE is a fear movie, of sorts. It doesn’t indulge in splatter-gore or supernatural head-twisting to shock and thrill. Rather, it relies on high shadows and sardonic dialogue, unusual characters and menacing situations. The movie contains no character stranger than Karloff’s Morgan, a hulking quiet brute glowering from leisurely a bolshie beard and a few deep and delicately placed scars painted in by Universal make-up genius Jack Pierce. Morgan develops an overarching attraction to lovely young Margaret Waverton. Director James Whale makes Margaret undergo the only costume change in the film, a travel that accomplishes a number of things. Undressing down to her waddle, Margaret is at once sexualized and made vulnerable. It gives deaf worn Rebecca Femm the opportunity to narrate lines at once darkly silly, sardonic, and deeply disturbing. As Gloria Stuart, who recently played the 100-year-old survivor in TITANTIC, tells us on the easy and informal commentary track, Whale wanted her to appear a `flaming dagger’ when Karloff chased her about the shadowy mansion, hence the pink Jean Harlow-ish silk gown. Rebecca Femm, fondling the gown’s silk, declares “Heavenly stuff, but it’ll rot.” Touching the young woman’s skin beneath the gown, she says “Finer stuff smooth, but it’ll rot, too!” Whale intercuts the scene with images of Margaret and Rebecca and Margaret looking at herself in an outmoded and distorting mirror. It’s a vivid sequence, transcending and enhancing the fright simultaneously.

THE Musty Dim HOUSE is filled with curved, shaded comedy and astronomical performances. Whale, of course, had earlier directed Karloff in FRANKENSTEIN, and would work yet again with him in a few years on THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN. Thesiger would join them as the demented Dr. Pretorius. If you’ve seen that movie and enjoyed its singular notice of humor, you’ll savor THE Archaic Sunless HOUSE as well. HOUSE lacks BRIDE’S humanity, there are no generous monsters in this one, but its comedy is more finely honed and definitely of a darker hue. And the ensemble cast is as sterling as it gets. I loved this movie.

Included on the Image dvd is Gloria Stuart’s informal and personal commentary, a nine-minute stills gallery (button free, it runs on its gain) and an eight tiny interview with director Curtis Harrington, who was a friend of Whale’s and the man most responsible for preserving, and restoring, THE Worn Dismal HOUSE as it lay mouldering in the Universal vaults in the 1960s.

Director James Whale deftly combined dry, sardonic humor with classic apprehension elements to fabricate the richly enchanting murky comedy “The Customary Sunless House”. By turns darkly witty and genuinely creepy, the film benefits from a razor-sharp script, sulky cinematography, and uniformly delicate performances in addition to Whale’s creative directorial flourishes. Simply summarized, the set involves a group of stranded travelers who catch refuge in an isolated Welsh mansion owned by a dangerously eccentric family during a terrific storm; before the night passes, members of the group will encounter awe, romance and even death as the disclose, wind and rain rage outside.

Among a illustrious cast that includes such luminaries as Boris Karloff, Melvyn Douglas, Charles Laughton, and Gloria Stuart, the acting honors are stolen by Ernest Thesiger playing the pinch-faced, hollow-eyed lord of the manor. Thesiger manages the difficult task of being very comical and vaguely menacing at the same time; in his first scene he introduces himself in a sepulchral but prissy tone as, “Femm … Horace Femm”, and the achieve is both marvelously amusing and discomfortingly shivery. Eva Moore also makes a distinctive impression in the role of Thesiger’s sharp-tongued sister whose begrudging hospitality to her guests does not include “beds … they can’t have beds!” She is particularly ominous as she fingers the fabric of Gloria Stuart’s extreme lop evening gown, noting “blooming stuff, but it’ll rot”, and then proceeds to build her hand on the exposed flesh above Stuart’s chest, adding “finer stuff detached, but it’ll rot too!”

The Kino DVD offers a graceful video transfer of this film which was once considered lost. After the film’s negative was discovered moldering in a vault, and then painstakingly restored, a copy was shown a very few times on pay cable TV channels aid in the early 1990’s; unfortunately, that print was so dismal that the movie was virtually unwatchable. The Kino version features correctly balanced incompatibility and a clearer, crisper soundtrack. As far as extras go, there is a fantastic photo gallery; excerpts of an interview with Curtis Harrington, a long-time acquaintance of James Whale who initiated the long search for the film’s missing negative; and a commentary by film historian James Curtis. Best of all is a second audio commentary by actress Gloria Stuart who with gigantic intelligence and charm reveals titillating tidbits about the film’s production, the other cast members, and the shooting of individual scenes, as well as general stories about Hollywood and her have career.

The 1962 Hammer remake of the same title, directed by William Castle, bears very few similarities with Whale’s production; Castle’s version is almost devoid of awe and emphasizes stout comedy which sometimes veers into the realm of slapstick. Both are consuming films in their have ways, but I personally pick Whale’s modern and heartily recommend that you add it to your home DVD library.

The wrathful mate of a slaughtered pregnant killer whale becomes so exasperated, that he begins a reign of dread on a fishing village and their community. Even though this movie follows on the heels of Jaws, and while it’s not golden filmmaking like the ample white shark classic, it is better than you judge and gives more creeps than you presumed. Also gives you a accurate impression that orca’s are more smart than most whales or animals/mammals. Bo Derek, and Richard Harris give the film more than average acts, while awful Robert Carradine and others derive whipped by the dark sea wolf’s tail or eaten by him. I vote Orca as a more unsafe and smarter animal than a killer shark-he’s faster, smarter, and he’s gota top-notch reason to waste. The music, by Ennio Morricone is a exiguous eerie and provokes your nerves that more awe is to reach. So, although the film isn’t a milestone, don’t notice at the poster of this movie and brush it off as a Jaws rip off. Better than it looks.

The success of Spielberg’s 1975 first to crack the 100 million notice landmark film Jaws spawned a whole series of “us against it” genre films of which several were water-based like the unpleasant Tentacles and the rest were equally terrible only taking location on land such as the campy Day of the Animals. However, a few were standouts and “Orca” was one of them.

Wonderfully and sensitively acted by the slack stout Richard Harris (A Man Called Horse and Camelot), the always convincing Charlotte Rampling (The Verdict), and the ever estimable Will Sampson (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest and Poltergeist II: The Other Side) . It is also memorable as the first film for Bo (10) Derek who manages to actually sustain her clothes on in this film.

The storyline is bright and believable. There are no memorable cliches or unimportant scenes. The film is compact and to the point at a brief 92 minutes. The direction and editing is sturdy and skillful. The photography is absolutely vivid. Every shot is beautifully filmed. The music is, unfortunately, forgettable and uninspiring.

Don’t let the comparisons to “Jaws” terror you off. This film may not be in that ballpark, but its field is only a block or two away.

“Caprice” was one of the films which first introduced me to the truly exceptional and novel magic of Doris Day. When I first saw it, I completely fell under her spell of beauty and talent – a talent for both comedy and drama which was so disarmingly qualified and effective that it simply communicated in a utter line, consistently hitting a bullseye either to my funnybone or to my heartstrings.

Everyone has the perfect good to be primary of a film – indeed, every film you glimpse cannot – and will not – wind up among your favorites. However, in the case of “Caprice” – a film which HAS always been a approved of mine (entirely because of Doris’ sexy, humorous and dramatically exact performance) – it was particularly disheartening to constantly procure so many negative references made to it over the years. The majority of the reviews were not genuine to the film when it was first released in 1967 (”…a long Day’s scramble into naught.”) and in one book written about Doris’ films, words and phrases like “abomination”, “unattractive”, and “a wretchedness” were dilapidated. Perhaps the ultimate blow to the film came from Doris herself, when she singled out “Caprice” (in her book “Doris Day – Her Enjoy Record”) as a film she disliked, and was forced to design only because her husband-manager, Marty Melcher, had signed her to do it without her knowledge. In spite of her indifference to the project, Doris -as usual – gave her “all” to the film, providing “Caprice” with a thoroughly professional and effective performance in both the suspenseful and comedic sequences. Ms. Day always knew the fair secret of how to play comedy in the most effective blueprint – that is, to play it as seriously and truthfully as possible!

Consequently, the film somehow was never released on home video in the United States (although it was released in Britian), and it didn’t seem that it would EVER be released on DVD. In my concept, there seemed to be a kind of “prejudice” against the film and against releasing it for so many years, while – in the interim – so many negligible films of lesser quality were readily released and received their moment in the sun. Now, that “Caprice” finally IS available on DVD in a deluxe packaging and a pristine, restored print – with many unbelievable “extras” – one hopes that people might thought the film again and possibly originate to ogle the many sure and spirited elements of the film which actually DID work quite well.

While the age disagreement between Doris and Richard Harris has sometimes been eminent (and, I feel – exaggerated), I could never detect it – Doris looked delicate, and she and Mr. Harris had an easy chemistry together. Also, Doris’ natural athleticism and expert exercise of props has never been more in evidence, and these skills are consistently placed on effective and appealing demonstrate throughout the film. Doris always wore clothes extremely well, and while the conservative mod fashions she donned for the film were very grand a product of their time (1966-67), they were beautifully designed by Ray Aghayan and – considering that the film was, to a spacious extent, a peruse “spoof”, they really added so worthy to the “fun” element in the film. (An entertaining conversation with Mr. Aghayan is included concerning his designs for Doris in the film.) In addition, it should be notorious that – while the preceding string of Doris’ films had fallen into a somewhat familiar pattern of sophisticated “bedroom” farce, “Caprice” presented her in a dramatically different atmosphere of espionage and worry which her previous film “The Glass Bottom Boat” merely hinted at. In “Glass Bottom Boat”, her Jennifer Nelson is humorously accused of being a “peer” – while in “Caprice”, Patricia Foster actually IS a ogle – an indomitable and certain heroine who – amid all the duplicity and artificiality surrounding her – remains independent and just to herself in her quest to avenge her father’s cancel.

The director, Frank Tashlin, keeps the energy level extremely high throughout the film. His previous, extensive work in cartoons is certainly evident – for instance, the station share with Doris hanging onto a girder (for dear life) underneath a wooden deck, attempting to slash a lock of Irene Tsu’s hair – is presented grand like so many schemes that were doomed to distinct failure concocted by Wylie Coyote against the Road Runner. The supporting cast is first rate, highlighted by a animated (almost “psychotic”) performance by Ray Walston as the (supposed) scientific genius/inventor of cutting edge cosmetics. On the negative side – perhaps the greatest element which ultimately worked against the film is that the abrupt changes from slapstick to suspense did not work as well as hoped, and the storyline got a bit confusing (although I always suspected that any confusion in the epic was a deliberate comment on the peek genre and piece of the satire) .

For me, one of the most consuming revelations I discovered from the DVD (which was made by Day author/expert Pierre Patrick on the optional commentary track) was that – in a conversation he had with Ms. Day in the behind 90’s, her response to the news that a unusual screening of “Caprice” (at UCLA in California) was enthusiastically received by many younger film buffs (in great the same draw they have embraced the “Austin Powers” spy-spoof films) – was that she was going to go relieve to “Caprice” and have a peek at the film again, hinting that maybe there were distinct definite elements of the film that she had missed.

I would offer a similar recommendation: if you have once seen “Caprice”, you should hold a explore at it again, and afford it some additional consideration. And, if you happen to be a younger film fan who has never seen it, you should definitely do so, especially now that it is (finally) available, and in it’s radiant, fresh guise. Like me, you might also descend under the talented spell of one of the most gifted and blooming performers of the 20th Century: Doris Day.

Doris Day plays a swinging, mod-attired agent of espionage (yes, that’s Doris Day) in this caper comedy directed by Frank Tashlin. Patricia Fowler (Day) is an industrial watch who is hired to work undercover at a cosmetics company. While posing as a low-level employee, she is to glean the goods on a original formual they intend to market. However, it turns out that makeup isn’t all this firm has to sell; they’re also alive to in an international drug smuggling ring, and she finds herself doing battle with other agents willing to end to insure the journey of narcotics is unabated. Her adventures cause her to rotten paths with Christopher White (Richard Harris), a fellow agent with whom Patricia is soon romantically fervent, and together the couple locate the secret lab of cosmetics tycoon and faulty genius Stuart Clancy (Ray Walston) .

This is not one of Doris’s best films. But truly a must perceive for diehard Doris Fans. Rotund of mystery, intrigue and espionage.
