I am a historian by profession. I did my senior thesis on the Garvey movement during my college days.

Overall, I idea this was an friendly documentary. The DVD is particularly suited as it expounds upon things like Malcolm X’s parents’ role in the Garvey movement, J. Edgar Hoover’s vendetta against Garvey, and it contains two complete speeches from Garvey recorded in 1921, the latter of which states the goals of his UNIA.

As for the controversy, one should not examine a serious documentary aimed for adults to note a historical figure as an idealized, angelic being with no human flaws. Let’s face it, Garvey had his faults and this documentary deals with that. But it also makes it sure that Garvey made a clear impact on many people from the testimonies of people who actually remembered the Garvey movement. Incidentally, in response to one of the previous posters, this DVD DID mention that Garvey created the Red, Sunless and Green flag.

Next to reading “Dim Moses” or “The Philosophy of Marcus Garvey,” this is a salubrious introduction for anyone who wants to learn about Marcus Garvey. Glance this, read Garvey’s possess writings, and mediate for yourself.

Usually, American Experience can counted on to note intensely fact-based documentaries. This one does not fit the ususal mode of American Experience product. Apparently, Frankthek didn’t read the other reviews. One is from Julius Garvey, MD son of Marcus Garvey. That review led me to realize that there was more to the narrative. I went and did my occupy research. It seems that there is a titanic deal of bias in the documentary. The documentary doesn’t open where Garvey’s life begins and it doesn’t destroy where it ends. But it seems to want to tag upon you that it does. Nowhere are there facts presented for the viewer to develop their gain determination. That’s why i glimpse American experience so considerable. Normally they expose the facts, without so remarkable as a critique. In my gain research I confirmed some of what Dr. Garvey says in his review. The fraud trial originally ended in a hung jury, a fact left out of the documentary. Garvey met up with an expert elocutionist in Henrietta Vinton Davis, who may have been more influential on him than Billy Sunday. Garvey’s second wife, Amy Jacques Garvey was from a well-to-do Jamaican family. Garvey finished his days in London, England; a plaque marks the house where he lived. He was interred in a crypt in England; and his body was brought serve to Jamaica in the 60’s. This was a very notable time in world history. Africa was getting its independence, the civil rights movement was taking off. Martin Luther King even laid a wreath at Garvey’s mausoleum during a vacation in Jamaica. I watched this with a few other people and the consensus was the same. It is not the usual standard for American Experience. So many contradictory statements and so tiny facts. If anything this documentary will inspire others to go do their maintain research to derive the loyal facts like I did.

It’s the holidays so what better thing to do than package up previously released films and a couple of previously released older Bogart classics? Warner has done a proper job here combining two of Bogie’s finest films “Casablanca” and “The Cherish of the Sierra Madre” along with “They Drive By Night” and Bogie’s starmaking performance as unpleasant guy Ray earle in “High Sierra” (perhaps a sense of humor as well from those who combined this with “Sierra Madre” where Bogie plays a very different iconic role) .

John Huston may be America’s most consistently bright filmmaker. That’s saying a lot considering the competition but Huston the son of actor Walter Huston tackled a number of genres with intelligence, a cynical wit and a racy search for for human behavior. John Huston began as a screenwriter with one of his first jobs working on “Murders in the Rue Morgue” for Robert Florey in 1932 (that’s not counting his many appearances as an extra in his father’s films) . By 1941 he found himself in the director’s chair for the first of many collaborations with Humphrey Bogart in “The Maltese Falcon”.

“The Like of the Sierra Madre” was only Huston’s sixth credited film as director and it calm stands mammoth in his 47 film career as director. The yarn of three men in search of gold in the mountains of Mexico and how greed and paranoia overwhelm the three men (Bogart, Walter Huston and Bruce Bennett) contributing to tragedy sounds like something that should be a folk record warning of how gold can bring out the worst in a man.

“Sierra Madre” and “Casablanca” both peer terrific with crisp, intriguing looking images. Warner has done a well-behaved job of cleaning up both these classic films. “Sierra Madre” doesn’t peer quite as splendid as “Casablanca” with sections that are grainy, white spots and other minor analog imperfections but on the whole looks quite noble. The grainy quality of the film in a couple of scenes doesn’t surprise me given some of the plot photography and the occasional consume of telephoto shots where the relate is a bit unsteady. Overall “Casablanca” wins this contest in terms of looks but it’s somehow appropriate that “Sierra Madre” looks a bit rough around the edges given the cynical nature, status photography and a feeling as conclude to naturalistic as Hollywood could do at the time. Considering how outmoded the film is I personally feel it looks extremely sterling in this deluxe edition from Warner.

“Casablanca” actually looks better. Digitally cleaned up with a agreeable negative outmoded for this edition it’s one of the sharpest looking older films I’ve seen Warner do out. Audio for both films sounds extremely ample doing justice to the musical scores for each film and features positive dialogue.

“High Sierra” was originally released to DVD in a single disc edition in 2003. This is exactly the same release as before. Warner released a top notch transfer for 2003 and it unruffled looks extremely excellent three years later. Audio has mighty punch.

“They Drive By Night” gets a very nice transfer as well. Again it was previously released in 2003 and it’s a minor gem from director Raoul Walsh. Audio sounds pretty here as well with dialogue presented very sure.

The 2003 releases have two short but informative featurettes that Warner attach together for the unusual snapcase releases befriend in 2003. Both are extremely suited and worthwhile to glimpse. “Casablanca” actually has all the same materials that I reviewed in 2003 (although I can’t score the link for some reason) so I’ll briefly provide highlights of this station. We win a TV adaptation of the film which was produced in the 50’s. It’s most famous for reminding you how ample the movie is. It’s comparable to watching a high school production of a Broadway play you’ve seen. The documentary on Bogart which is narrated by Bacall Bogie’s romantic lead in film and life provides an proper if superficial background. There’s no dirt but that’s not a surprise. Warner cartoon short “Carrotblanca” a somewhat anemic spoof of the film shows up here as well with Bugs playing Bogie and various Warner characters filling the other character roles. A solid documentary is also included on the making of the film and deleted scenes (without the audio) which was recently discovered.

“Admire” has lots of vast stuff buried on the second disc and some fool’s gold as well. The older documentary on Huston narrated by Robert Mitchum is a gem and while its not warts and all it’s about as end as you’re likely to come by in the scheme of a kiss and direct biography on film about this legendary hell raiser. The second on the making of the film features some nice interviews and trivia but isn’t quite what I had hoped. It’s not abominable fair doesn’t have as many gold nuggets as I expected. We also rep a Bogie trailer collection, along with “8 Ball Bunny” which is a classic and silly short that references the film (Faux Bogie: “Excuse me could you relieve a fellow American down on his luck? ” Bugs: “Hit the road!”) . We accept a Warner Night Out hosted by Leonard Maltin with lots of frosty stuff that you might have seen if you had attended the theater to glimpse this when it was released. Finally we collect a collection of photos, a radio broadcast of “Love” featuring Bogie and Walter Huston, a second cartoon, storyboards and behind-the-scenes photos.

Bottom line: If your film fan hasn’t purchased these separate this is a sizable situation. However if you did seize any of these titles individually I should warn you there’s nothing here that’s unique. Unlike the second Bogie site which does have some films that hadn’t been released to DVD before (the gem in that residence is “The Maltese Falcon” in a three disc special edition but there are also some worthwhile Bogie gold in that plot as well. There’s no fool’s gold but as with any place the quality of the gold will vary) .

I should mention I bought this from the “Modern and Weak” link getting it impress fresh for 20 dollars.

This state contains four movies

High Sierra (1941)

The Admire of the Sierra Madre (1948)

They Drive By Night (1940)

Casablanca (1942)

The Adore of the Sierra Madre is the same as the one provided in the link, The Savor of the Sierra Madre (Two-Disc Special Edition) This is a 20 dollar value.

Casablanca is the same as the one provided in the link, Casablanca (Two-Disc Special Edition) Another 20 dollar value.

Both High Sierra and They Drive by Night are in the thin DVD cases, not the fleshy size that are the norm.

High Sierra is one of Bogie’s first leading roles. This film along with The Maltese Falcon made Bogie a star. It is also the last film in which he does not have top billing.

He is in a supporting roll in They Drive by Night. For those thinking that Bogie has a major roll in this film do not be mislead. His roll is a supporting roll with his cover time diminishing as they film progresses. However this film will give you a eye of George Raft and Ida Lupino acting skills.

This area is worth it even if you only want to beget Cherish and Casablanca, with two other Bogie films included.

This documentary is covers the wildlife of Southern Africa. The animals are introduced in a very engrossing blueprint, with a narrative about each that kids can really record to eg the duck who pretends to be injured to distract the hyena away from her babies, the daddy ostrich protecting his eggs, the chimps who cartwheel down the hill, the fish who swallows her young to hold them fine. Along the map there is footage of other animals who are objective animated to study at. The photography is often shapely and the classical music glean fits it well. The sprint is quite expeditiously, which is suitable as it holds a child’s attention.

I bought this DVD for my five year obsolete son because I remember seeing and loving the movie as a child. I wasn’t definite how the movie would have passe, but it tranquil looks beautiful proper. Now that I’m older I can state flaws that I missed as a child – scenes that have clearly been position up by the filmmakers or edited together from different pieces of footage. This doesn’t detract from its appeal as a family movie.

If you’re a wildlife purist who is after a serious documentary, this isn’t for you. But if you want an though-provoking introduction to African wildlife, it’s perfect. The reviewer who complains about the arrangement that clouds are personalised is missing the point – this is a film that speaks to a child’s imagination. My son loves it, although some of it is over his head and I can say he’ll net more out of it when he’s a couple of years older. Nevertheless, I’m gay to have weaned him off Cut Jnr for a while!

we saw this video many years ago, and loved it so grand that we have been looking for it ever since. It is the best and funniest animal video, we have ever seen, and we have seen lots of them. We would highly recommend this for families to peer.

The shroud is pitch dim and we hear a thunder…”I’m so elated to be talking in the dim as if I were beside you, and maybe I am.” The speaker is Guy de Maupassant (voiced by Jean Marais), and Le Plaisir is three of his stories filmed by the ample director Max Ophuls. The connecting thread? That pleasure, or even appreciate, lies in how people intermingle their lives, with a shrug, assumptions, an apology, a thank you. Le Plaisir is not so noteworthy a sophisticated film of attraction and hope as it is a film of rueful wisdom. It’s best to maintain in mind while watching this movie that while life can be enjoyed, there are times when hope can travel.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Le Plaisir! Click Here

The three stories consist of, first, La Masque. We are in 19th Century Paris at the Palais de la Dance, where substantial, swirling balls are held. This is a plot where young women hope to win pleasure and rich men; where feeble women bound memories and young suitors; where prostitutes and their pimps win, where the men are young bucks and stale goats, where “rough cotton to the finest cambric” can combine. One slender man in paunchy dinner dress rushes into the palace and begins to dance with a graceful young woman. He prances and kicks, yet his face is like a frozen conceal of youth. He collapses on the dance floor and a doctor is called. When the doctor loosens the man’s clothes, he finds…well, let’s say that when the man is delivered home to his wife by the doctor, she tells him a narrative of the battle between pleasure and admire.

In La Maison Tellier, we learn all about a cozy, worthy and long established brothel in a puny town on the Channel skim. The bourgeois men of the town are as illustrious there as they are to their wives. Then Madame decides to cessation her establishment for a night so that she and her girls can go into the countryside to serve her niece’s first communion. They have one or two adventures on the disclose. In the minute village they employ the night with Madame’s brother and meet the young girl. They help the communion in the village church. They get flowers on the device aid, and are met with expedient affection and with spacious gaiety when Madame reopens her space of business the following night. We sight a touching legend, as de Maupassant tells us, when pleasure and purity approach together.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Le Plaisir! Click Here

Le Modele gives us a chronicle where pleasure struggles with honest decay, where “happiness is not a glad thing.” We search for a painter and his model meet, rapturously embrace lust and, as lust tires, recrimination grows. The cherish which endures as the record plays out may not be most people’s view of happiness.

This is a marvelously told series of stories. La Masque and Le Modele are relatively short bookends to the major legend of La Maison Tellier. With this one, it would be difficult not to become pleased and engaged with Madame and her girls and her brother. Even the puffed up townsmen are not without a sympathetic side; which man among us wouldn’t mind being flattered, even for a impress, by Madame’s girls?

In the cast are some of France’s best known actors, including Claude Dauphin, Danielle Darrieux, Jean Gabin, Daniel Gelin, Simon Simon, Madeleine Renaud and Pierre Brasseur.

Please price that the Criterion release is not scheduled until September 16, 2008. My comments are based on the Location 2 release which I contain. I like this film so well I notion to prefer the Criterion Dwelling 1 version when it comes out. After I have a chance to gaze at Criterion’s extras, I’ll post an extra paragraph here about them.

This review is for the Criterion Collection DVD edition of the film.

Le Plaisir, meaning “pleasure” is a film based on three stories by Guy de Maupassant. Le Masque, La Maison Tellier, and Le Modèle.

In the first memoir, Le Masque, an elderly man hides his age with a screen and goes to a ball and dances energetically with a woman and he later falls down in exaustion. In the second chronicle, La Maison Tellie, the women and madam of a brother go on a field trail. In the third yarn, Le Modèle, a woman falls in adore with a male artist whom she poses for.

I found the film to be enchanting and liked the opening sequence with the traditional man in the conceal.

The DVD has some mammoth supplements too which are quite pleasurable. Todd Haynes gives an introduction to the film, also is a video slideshow with narration which provides the transition of the film from its script to its production, there are also interviews with actor Daniel Gélin, and crewmembers, Tony Aboyantz, and Robert Christidès. There are also alternate language versions of the opening narration in English and German.

This is a film that you won’t want to miss.

“Quo Vadis”, based on the modern by Henryk Sienkiewicz would have to be reach the top of my list of favourite 1950’s religious record productions. Indeed “Narrative” is the word to fittingly characterize this broad MGM production that cost an fantastic 7 million dollars to execute in 1950 and was the studio’s biggest money maker since “Gone With The Wind”. It has everything an fable movie lover could desire, the already stated ravishing literary source, breathtaking sets (no computer generated effects here!), meticulously researched historical costumes, substantial crowds scenes and a aesthetic recreation of Pagan Rome at it’s height. The film boasts an fabulous cast but towering over all of them is the slack Peter Ustinov in his unforgettable performance as the deranged Nero. His interpretation of this sinful Emperor who began the first concentrated persecution of the early Christians is unruffled the visual image for a lot of people, myself included, that first comes to mind when Nero’s name is mentioned. Already having been filmed a number of times in the calm era and once again since this 1951 film, this is detached the definitive version of the yarn of the early Christian Church struggling to survive in Nero’s Rome after the mammoth fire.

With the advent of television in the early 1950’s Hollywood fought aid with splashy, lavish productions that could not be matched by the flickering sunless and white image of television in it’s infancy. “Quo Vadis”, lent itself perfectly for this purpose and an already shaky MGM assign all of it’s resources into the filming of this account for production. The narrative centres around cocky Roman soldier Marcus Vinicius (Robert Taylor) who after three years of successful campaigning returns to savour the delights of Nero’s Rome. Detained at the villa of a retired Roman general Marcus falls for the simple charms of the general’s adapted daughter Lygia (Deborah Kerr) who unbeknown to Marcus is secretly a Christian. Seeing her like for him but not plan the families plan in the adore of a single god and in loving your fellow man despite their background or hurry Marcus has Lygia taken to Rome and placed in Nero’s “House of Women” and seeks to form her is hold. Lygia escapes and is taken in by other believers but in the meanwhile Marcus finds himself the focus of the unwelcome and quite hazardous affections of the Empress Poppaea (Patricia Laffan) . Meanwhile Nero’s meglomania continues to grow and he develops a wild blueprint to rebuild Rome to his enjoy glory and secretly sets the city on fire. The backlash from this act however sets Nero to accumulate a scapegoat and thus begins the persecution of the Christian sect that are, to the amazement of the Romans, the disciples of a simple young carpenter from Galilee who was executed for his beliefs. Marcus finds Lygia however both are imprisoned together as Christian believers to become the sport of Nero’s festivities in the arena. The appearance of the Apostle Peter who has been called to Rome by Christ’s message gives the Christians the strength to endure their ordeals and Marcus and Lygia are married by him impartial prior to his bear matrydom on Vatican Hill. Nero however goes too far in his persecution and the mob turns on him resulting in his topple from power and suicide and the reins of power being taken over by the more level headed General Galba.

While “Quo Vadis”, in some areas is not always just historically the faults are not glaring ones and it does give a colorful recount of the growth of the early Christian movement and the persecution it endured which of course went on long after Nero’s death. First and foremost it is absorbing and dramatic viewing and is the classic example of worn style movie making at its most lavish. The film is filled with unforgettable images, for example the broad crowd scenes during Marcus’ triumpiant entry into Rome, and the burning of the city by Nero which incredibly was done on both stout sized and exiguous sets. The chilly blooded destruction of the Christians in Nero’s Circus of course is probably the most sparkling image in the film and is riverting in it’s scare and correct depiction of people being eaten by lions or being passe as human torches. These scenes in “Quo Vadis”, have I maintain never been bettered in depicting the insanity and brutality of Nero and his regime. Performances are uniformily shapely here. As the two lovers Robert Taylor and Deborah Kerr are honest perfect as the two illmatched lovers from different worlds. Finlay Currie does a most inspirational fragment of work as Peter and special mention must go to Patricia Laffan who is perfect in a chilling performance as the unfavorable Empress Poppaea. Directed by MGM faded Mervyn LeRoy, who was responsible for such diverse MGM productions as “Waterloo Bridge”, and “Blossoms in the Dust”, here he is unruffled impartial as at home with this tidy scale type of film and his directoral integrity is evident in every frame of this film. “Quo Vadis”, ended up being nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Relate and Best Supporting Actor for Peter Ustinov.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Quo Vadis! Click Here

I always bag “Quo Vadis”, a enchanting viewing experience generally around Easter time when my thoughts often go aid to the earliest years of my religion. Liking the older style of movie making I can also enjoy the film on its wonderful technical achievements and massive historical recreation. This however never submerges my appreciation of its very simple message that all people need to cherish each other despite their differences for the world to be a happier plot. Buy time soon to conception this tale production of “Quo Vadis”, you wont regret it.

This biblical legend has Peter Ustinov giving the definitive performance of the emperor Nero, in spite of the motion report code. But then, it seems they were always relaxing that motion narrate code abet in the 40’s and 50’s as long as it was for a biblical story of some kind. In this case, you ogle – although from a distance – lions carrying the limbs of dismembered Christians upon which they are feeding, along with all of the other insinuations of decadence prove under Nero. Robert Taylor, who was normally a rather wooden actor IMHO, did a very sterling job in this one as a Roman soldier entranced by a Christian girl. If you didn’t know better you might judge this film was the work of Cecil B. DeMille, but instead the director was Mervyn Le Roy. Le Roy directed some of Warners fast-paced urban early sound films including Alice White’s musicals, Gold Diggers of Broadway, Cagney’s “Hard to Handle”, Edward G. Robinson’s “Petite Caesar”, and “Three on a Match”. He also directed one of Robert Taylor’s other substantial performances in 1942’s “Johnny Fervent”, unbelievably not yet on DVD. In other words, Le Roy directed many crowd-pleasers. This might justify why this film got seven or eight Oscar nominations, but none for the director himself. He honest wasn’t considered friendly enough by the Academy to be “in the club” in spite of this kindly individual achievement.

Buy,Download, Or Stream Quo Vadis! Click Here

Everyone knows the accepted tale. Nero burns Rome to sure the device for the pretty city he wants to compose, but the peasants are revolting – literally. He then blames the weird and unpopular but swiftly growing sect of the Christians for the burning, and begins feeding them to the lions for the amusement of the Romans. However, the Christians face death so bravely that Rome turns on Nero. Well, that’s the movie.

The facts are noteworthy more in argument. In an feeble city such as Rome, accidental fires that destroyed cities were favorite. In fact Nero did lead a massive relief pains after the fire, and fires fair as tremendous broke out in Rome after Nero’s death. Some historians do have the Christians confessing to the crime. The fact is that the people did originate to circulate rumors that Nero was at fault, and he was responsible for blaming th Christians for the fire to put himself. He ordered to have them thrown to dogs, though, not lions, as in the film. However, like Showtime’s “The Tudors” one can somewhat overlook all of this historical jumping to conclusions and outright inaccuracy in the name of magnificent entertainment.

I was looking for some of those obsolete National Geographic nature specials when I came upon this selection of WWII DVD’s. I had a lot of respect for the quality of the National Geographic specials based on what I’d seen on TV over the years. I expected the same when I ordered this residence of DVD’s. I have to admit that the quality of the production is very worthy. It’s the overall sing that disappointed me.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Ultimate National Geographic World War II Collection! Click Here

The first DVD I watched was titled “Untold Stories of WWII”. It had several sideline stories about supposedly tiny known developments during the war. The main subject was the Nazi Germany early-stage development towards an atomic bomb. The events primarily consume plot in Norway and you probably would devour watching the movie “Heroes of Telemark” more than this segment. There’s another on the development of the other spruce weapons that Germany developed towards the ruin of the war. There’s is also a segment on the Japanese mini-sub which segues into the next DVD I watched.

The second DVD of this location that I watched was “Pearl Harbor-Legacy of Attack”. This and the final DVD of the series apparently grew out of the funding that the National Geographic Society provided for a couple of undersea explorations. One was the search for a Japanese mini-sub supoosedly lost during 12/7/41 and the other was for the USS Yorktown lost after the Battle for Midway. The original day underwater searches were a questionable aspect of the Pearl Harbor and Midway DVD’s. I enoy the views of sunken ships that have become technologically possible in the last decade or so. However, they did seem to detract from the recounting of the history of the two battles. There is a lot of safe fresh films of the two battles, agreeable narration and outstanding reminiscences by surviving veterans.

Buy,Download, Or Stream The Ultimate National Geographic World War II Collection! Click Here

The Pearl Harbor DVD, I felt, was the most worthwhile of the three in the situation. Frankly, I’d recommend that you achieve money and honest take that one. It gives a better overview of the battle than does the Midway DVD. The one on Midway seemed rather sporatic in its’ sage.

I’m calm looking for those gargantuan National Geographic nature specials that I saw when I was growing up. I’m not definite what to earn of the National Geographic’s scurry into the realm of history. Maybe if the underwater discoveries are keep on the center stage and the rest was impartial conventional as background, I might have appreciated these videos more. As it was, the two battle DVD’s seemed to be trying to voice two seperate stories simultaneously and I didn’t contemplate that worked too well.

My sons (ages 6 and 4) cherish this fresh entertaining series, The Spectacular Spider-Man. The explain is mighty better favorable for younger audiences than Spider-Man’s last entertaining series, which lasted only one season on MTV in 2003.

This series features all of Spider-Man’s most noted villians, including the Green Goblin, Venom, Doctor Octopus, Sandman, Vulture, Rhino and Electro. In Volume 3, Peter Parker finds himself amidst more hazardous arch enemies, including the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Tombstone.

If you absolutely must bewitch a DVD honest now (birthday explain, etc.) this is a safe choice for Spider-Man fans. Amazon has the DVD priced $5 below suggested retail mark ($19.95) and this is a pleasant choice for young children who appreciate Spider-Man.

The more economical decision is to wait for a DVD status release of all 26 episodes from Seasons 1 and 2, which should be priced around $30. It was announced earlier this year that Season 2 would proceed from the CW network to Disney XD. Season 2 is scheduled to launch in March 2009. However, the Spectacular Spider-Man ended production after completing the 26th episode (the ruin of Season 2) . A third season might happen, depending on the ratings Season 2 gets on Disney XD.

In summary, I’d rate The Spectacular Spider-Man series five stars based on the entertainment value for young superhero fans. The shows are accessible without being too scary or adult for the under-10 audience. However, by marketing the first season into four DVDs, I deduct two stars. The series is overpriced, especially in light of the unique economy.

“THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN” has won a lot of viewers due to its fresh theme and its ability to attract and entertain Spider-Man fans of all ages.

“THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN” is definitely a series for the next generation. Peter Parker is no longer the bookworm that is an outcast in the whole school. No glasses, no abominable clothing and no self-esteem issues like the current teenager of the funny book series. In fact, the spider he has been bit by is not radioactive but genetically altered.

This Peter Parker is cooler and even sports a man bag (or school bag) and has a birthmark.

In volume 3, Spider-Man learned that the Great Man is Tombstone and that he will be in for a major surprise when he finds out the identity of the Green Goblin.

The episodes in volume two are as follows:

Episode 7 – Catalysts – It’s the Midtown High Topple Formal and Peter Parker brings his date, Mary Jane Watson, a dazzling red head that his Aunt May area up. Meanwhile, the Green Goblin makes his appearance and he challenges the Titanic Man aka Tombstone.

Episode 8 – Reaction – As Dr. Otto Octavius is working on an experiment to compose more shapely villains, the Green Goblin locks him in that experiment room and transforms Octavius to the Dr. Octopus.

Episode 9 – The Uncertainty Principle – While Colonel John Jameson tries to land his damaged status shuttle, Spider-Man battles Green Goblin and learns of his moral identity.

As mentioned, “THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN” is definitely a series that has caught a lot of attention and even IGN has voted it as #30 in their “TOP 100 BEST Attractive TV SHOWS” poll. Unlike other Spider-Man entertaining series, Spider-Man’s physique matches a young teenager (as it should) .

And for us older folks stale to the classic engaging series or older droll books and have young children, there is always something though-provoking with Spider-Man throughout the years, no matter how powerful it differs from what we grew up with, the soul of Spider-Man and the characters are faithful but adjusted for unique times.

And it’s definitely a series that we can peek and indulge in with our children. Another fun and attractive volume of “The Spectacular Spider-Man”.

VIDEO & AUDIO:

Video is presented in 1:78:1 anamorphic widescreen. Animation is nice and vibrant. Lines are dapper, characters and objects are simple with shadows and not as worthy detail when it comes to the backgrounds. But the choice to do this was to replicate fluidity of Spider-Man in the films. But overall, the animation is superb and orderly.

Audio is presented in English 5.1 (Dolby Digital) and French (Dolby Surround) .

SPECIAL FEATURES:

There are no special features but trailers/previews.

JUDGMENT CALL:

“THE SPECTACULAR SPIDER-MAN” has been a handsome solid series thus far. Again, it’s not the Spider-Man I grew up with but for a fresh generation watching this, it’s adapted for a unusual setting, its provocative distinguished differently than any Spider-Man animations in the past but everything works.

Watching it with my son, I believe it was gigantic to rep a series that would be inviting to the young children, teenagers and the adults.

I’ve read several interviews with series developers Victor Cook and Greig Weisman and both are Spider-Man fans but also fans of other genres such as Hong Kong films and also grabbing ideas from different eras, may it be from “Ultimate Spider-Man”, the films and thus obvious purists may have a hard time with it but again, as a fan of the droll books and the many incarnations of Spider-Man appealing series, whats significant is that this series remains faithful to the characters.

Sure, they may have different storylines of how the villains became to be what they are but aloof, the essence of who Peter Parker is and having to be this hero but yet bright that it will affect his personal relationships with those stop to him is aloof intact.

Episodes 7-9 was scrumptious as the previous episodes. And I like how the series captures the relationship (or lack of) the Osborn family between Harry and his father and how the Green Goblin is quite central to that storyline. And you know, when the Green Goblin is around, question to eye quite a bit of action between Spider-Man and the Green Goblin.

Also, it’s involving to look how the Expansive Man (L. Thompson Lincoln) aka Tombstone will be aged in the series. So, far he has been able to manhandle Spider-Man and because his company and his character is so integral in the series, especially with the other villains, it will be lively to search for how long he will stick around.

Overall, a fun and luscious series thus far. For those who are budget conscious, waiting for a fat season may be of your best keen. I wished there was some sort of special feature included on the DVD but overall, an intelligent series that both young and dilapidated can indulge in. Check it out!

The impressive timing of these “Burly House” DVD’s have allowed a trio of seasons to be released within an eight-month time slot in the year 2006. Season 3 hit the stores in April 2006, then Season 4 like a flash followed in August. Now, maintaining that solid four-month wreck in-between seasons, the fifth year of “Chunky House” episodes will be available for everyone to savor on December 12–just in time for the holidays!

There’s no doubt that a very sincere fan wrong has accumulated in fresh years to succor fabricate these DVD sets possible. Longtime viewers, who remember watching the explain as kids, have matched up with today’s young (and young at heart!) to attach “Fleshy House” as everything it is: a lighthearted, warm, sweet occasionally cheesy but thoroughly curious explain about what a healthy, ecstatic American family can recount for contemporary society.

Season 5 finds the series at what is splendid noteworthy the top of its game, with episodes that are unique, vibrant, and always fun to revisit. The birth of Jesse and Becky’s twin boys is the most certain highlight of this year, but there are plenty more special moments sprinkled all over the season that can be gripping to everyone. In addition to Joey getting a gig as “Ranger Joe” on a children’s prove and Jesse struggling to officially open his music career and befriend his family, the lickety-split growth of the three Tanner girls opens up many modern storylines. 16-year-old DJ gets her drivers’ license, earns her have bedroom at last, and starts growing apart from her father (mighty to Danny’s dread) . 10-year-old Stephanie gets in a heated spelling match with a brainiac classmate, falls head-over-heels for a distinguished singer, and trains to become a professional dancer (and yes, folks, this is the season where she infamously moves into the bathroom!) Then there’s diminutive Michelle who, when she’s not running away from home (well, maybe fair down the street) or dressing up as a boy, gets lonely for a mommy and attempts to place Danny up with her kindergarten teacher–who objective happens to be twice his age!

Some special guests this season include The previously appearing Beach Boys and an adorable chimpanzee, among others. It is, without a doubt, one of “Plump House’s” finest seasons and worth adding to your collection if you are an avid fan. Now all that’s left are Seasons 6-8, and with the extraordinary success the DVD sets have enjoyed thus far, I consider it’s satisfactory to say we’ll peek the whole series within the next year!

First off it’s worth mentioning that this DVD includes Naked Mission and Lace in Position and is 120 mins long, not 60 mins as stated in the technical details on this area.

Okay…where should I initiate? Well, let’s accept this over and done with. Panties. Yes, there’s lots of them, and as other reviewers have mentioned, if you are likely to be offended by (or feel wretched viewing) a seemingly endless number of shots of white panty covered crotches, skip this and go on. There’s a lot. More than a lot, actually. There’s tons of them. Trust me.

However, it’s worth saying that all this gratuity doesn’t spoil Aika in any procedure. It’s not a randomly tacked on interest grabbing ploy. It’s an fundamental share of the whole deal. If you’re going to thought it as a full-on action based memoir, and that alone, then you will probably be quite disappointed. But, if you regain it for what it really is – a pervy, sleazed-up, cheesy parody with a Bond style space skimming along gradual it all – then you’ll be unprejudiced heavenly.

You’re certainly not going to be buying this for objective the epic. You hold it for the whole package. Panties and all…

Oh, there is also some nudity as well, but it’s nothing to procure flustered about. All handsome basic really. And anyway, the impact of what small there is gets fine worthy overridden by a continual stream of white-knickered nether regions; and that’s far more obscene.

Moving on though, the art is well above average and cleanly and crisply executed. Colours are apt and well chosen. The character animation is aesthetic remarkable without fault, very humorous in places (particularly facial expressions) and is generally very slick, especially (as you would request and hope) during fight scenes. My only concerns lay with some of the English instruct acting, and I mean some. Most of it is honest lovely and well matched. Especially Gusto. The English content dub really made that character for me. Unexpected and very laughable. However, Rion’s English thunder actor did manage to miss the brand in a few places, and there were a couple of occasions where she really didn’t match the emotion of the character’s visuals. Saying that though, the recent Japanese order actor missed the note as well on occasions, so I won’t gain that against her too noteworthy.

As for the music… Well, I didn’t spy a stout amount of it during any of the episodes, but it never seemed absent. So, I guess it worked okay. The opening theme (extended for the included music ‘video’) rocked though. Very upbeat with enough electric guitar work to preserve the whole thing exciting along nice and slickly. Superb work there. Unlike a lot of anime titles, it actually added to the feel of the whole work, rather than fair plodding along with it.

Overall, this is sexy and kooky enough to be a worthwhile select with plenty of respectable set-piece scenes to boost its replay value. Whether you like it or not isn’t going to be down to how easily you’re offended. Most anime fans, whether they be male or female, catch that fan service, in varying degrees, is delicate worthy always going to be piece of the deal. The deciding factor is going to be your overall expectations of the whole thing.

As it is, it’s a cleanly executed, humourous, gratuitous panty shot filled Bond style satire with both serious and fun characters and a reasonably tight set holding it all together. Watch it as that and purchase it as that and you’ll be more than delighted.

I bought this DVD as a replacement for a worthy borrowed tape (which was bought primarily to complete my Aika collection and to satisfy my curiosity) . Reviewing it again though was honest as impactful as the first time around.

Trials 5, 6 & 7 really do redefine ‘fan service’ design beyond what most of us would contemplate normal, especially Trial 6. The sheer amount of up-the-skirt camera angles, upturned bums and crotch shots has to be seen to be believed. It’s quite ludicrous.

Okay, that doesn’t really bother me, as such. I’ve reached a time in my life where very small shocks me any more. But, as with the first time around, I must admit that I found it a slight difficult to explain why I was watching it, other than for the purposes of pure sexual titillation.

Trials 1-4 worked ravishing for me, even with the fantastic amount of panty shots, due to there being a reasonably cohesive status running in the background, some basic character development and humorous visual humour. That kept the whole thing rolling along in a determined direction, which was ample. Also, as a stand-alone view, this particular mini-series (pun not intended) could even be considered a ‘classic’, or at least a defining moment in anime history.

However, the spot late Trials 5-7 really is nothing more than an excuse for an ever increasing number of white knickered bums and crotches. Which is absolutely ravishing, if you get it for being impartial that.

As it is, the latter I can easily deal with. I’m male and I’m quite elated to admit that I like looking at stunning girls in short skirts, engaging or not. Most guys do. Neither do I have any exact objections to having numerous shots of tightly fitted panties paraded before me. It’s a purely sexual thing. Deal with it. But the singular lack of any really creditable direction (even allowing for the ‘revenge’ angle) did tend to pick up a shrimp humdrum in places. The whole thing is basically unbiased one astronomical glorified cat-fight, and honest a runt more depth would have gone a long contrivance.

The mildly saving grace of this batch is Trial 7 in which Gusto makes a welcome return, along with secret agent Maypia – although neither of them really do that grand this time around. From that moment on, *some* of the droll humour that was point to in the first four episodes reappears and manages to remove the whole thing up a notch. Unfortunately, it’s minimal and arrives a bit too unhurried in the ’story’ to do distinguished else.

Visually though, the artwork and animation retains the righteous standards of the first four episodes. So no exact complaints there. The recount acting is on par with the first batch too and, once again, Gusto’s English dub is ridiculously comical. Overall though, the whole thing looks very sparkling, and the fresh theme tune works nicely as well.

So, should you consume it?

Well, if you bought Naked Missions (Trials 1-4), it’s probably worth it for the sake of owning them all. If you like nothing more than sitting around for an hour and a quarter looking at gratuitous shots of knicker gussets, go ahead and win it. You’ll worship it. If you want to contain a fraction of keen ecchi history, again, go win it. However, if you’re looking for a safe sage and that alone, then forget it. You will be sorely disappointed.

Once more, as with the previous collection, whether you like it or not really depends on what you’re expecting. That’s what matters. Acquire that apt and you’ll be attractive.

On a final mark though, I’m going to be just about this. Basically, for what it does, it does it exceptionally well. There’s no doubting that. It’s patently distinct that the single reason for these extra episodes was to be as depraved and as gratuitous as possible, and on that notice it scores a spacious tubby 12 out of 10. The sheer audacity of the Aika series in general and, in particular, the last three episodes is breathtaking. The producers get no bones about what its purpose is – or maybe they do – and for that you have to adore their gall and the extinguish result.

All in all, I would say that it’s an friendly addition to your collection if you either like outrageous anime, want to believe the widest possible range of anime fare or are objective prepared to score it for what it truly is; curious soft-core porn. If none of those points apply to you, then skip it.

It’s your choice though. But if you’re recent to Aika or anime in general I’d suggest you rent it, gape it alone (unless you really don’t give a damn what others believe), and then resolve.
