Media Image of Most Visible U.S. Presidential Candidates





Barack Obama was among the most visible U.S. presidential candidates in the media, and his image was the most positive. Not even Clinton or Giuliani could attract such a positive assesment by the journalists within a one year term.

Policy issues: small lead for Clinton

In post New Hampshire coverage the profiles of both Senator Clinton and Senator Obama look similar: leadership and personality issues were rarely mentioned, Senator Clinton had a small lead over Obama when policy issues were covered.

Romney could benefit from focus on personality

After the New Hampshire primaries, the four major candidates were covered positively when their personality was mentioned. But Romney could benefit from a more extensive focus on his personality: these topics were often mentioned – and the tone was quite positive. Democratic candidates are falling behind.
